Jesse Stuart Family Portrait

In 1944, Jesse’s daughter Jane would have been around the age of two. Here she is shown with her father in an un-posed snapshot. I liked this photo because they appear to be happy and enjoying themselves. Choosing a separate photo of Deane, I thought how fun it would be to create a family portrait that didn’t previously exist. The challenge in this drawing was that Deane’s image was added in and did not have the same light or shadows. Her photo was also a studio shot, while Jesse and Jane were most likely sitting by a window at home.

Jesse was an author & poet, Jane also had a few books of her own published.
